Karnali Yaks sets 149 run target

In the Nepal Premier League (NPL) match at the TU International Cricket Ground, Karnali Yaks set a target of 150 runs for Kathmandu Gurkhas after being sent to bat first. Karnali scored 149/5 in their 20 overs, thanks to a stellar performance from Shikhar Dhawan.

Dhawan Shines with an Unbeaten 72

Dhawan anchored the innings, remaining not out on 72 off 51 balls, hitting 4 fours and 5 sixes. Despite losing wickets from one end, Dhawan held firm and steadied the innings. He shared an unbeaten 65-run partnership with Zeeshan Maqsood for the sixth wicket. Maqsood contributed 14 runs off 11 balls, including one boundary.

Top Order Struggles

Karnali’s top order failed to deliver, with opener Dev Khanal getting out for a duck. Arjun Gharti managed only 4 runs, while Chadwick Walton (21), Babar Hayat (13), and Gulshan Jha (2) couldn’t capitalize on their starts.

Bowling Highlights

For Kathmandu, Gerhard Erasmus was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2 wickets. Karan KC, Nathan Sowter, and Dipesh Kandel each claimed a wicket to restrict Karnali to a manageable total.

The Chase Ahead

Kathmandu Gurkhas now need 150 runs to secure their first win in the tournament. With experienced batters in their lineup, this could be an exciting chase!
