The auction for the third edition of the Nepal Super League (NSL) will be held on February 22, the tournament’s organizer, Nepal Sports and Event Management, announced on Thursday.
This year, seven teams will compete, including defending champions Lalitpur City and former champions Kathmandu Rayzrs. Other teams in the league are Jhapa, Chitwan, Pokhara Thunders, Butwal Lumbini, and Dhangadhi.
However, Sporting Ilam and Birgunj United, who joined NSL last season, have decided not to participate. The league also had seven teams in its first season.
As per the rules, each team can retain two to three players from the previous season and must form a squad of 22 to 23 players. The team lineup must include:
- One marquee player
- Two to three A-grade players
- Six B-grade players
- Three C-grade players
- One D-grade player
- One rookie
- Six foreign or iconic players
- One non-resident player
Additionally, each team must have at least one foreign player from an Asian country.
