The final of the International Women’s Championship will see host nation Nepal take on Myanmar on Wednesday, with both teams vying for the prestigious title.

Teams Ready for the Final

Both sides have expressed their readiness ahead of the decisive match. During the pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Nepal and Myanmar asserted their determination to clinch the championship.

Nepal’s head coach, Rajendra Tamang, emphasized that his team has performed well in the previous three matches and is now focused on the final. “We played three matches, and they went well. Now, we are preparing for the final,” he said.

Similarly, Nepal captain Anjila Tumbapo Subba highlighted the team’s collective effort and their ambition to secure the gold medal. “Overall, we played well, and everyone contributed. We are currently at the silver medal stage, but tomorrow, we will fight for gold,” she stated. “Both teams are here for the title. The one that plays better will win. We will give our best.”

Myanmar’s coach and captain also expressed confidence in their squad. “We are ready for the final and hope to put on a good performance tomorrow,” said Myanmar head coach Tetsuro Uki.

Captain Win Theingi Tun echoed the sentiment, stating, “Our players are prepared for the final, and we hope to deliver a strong performance.”

Road to the Final

The four-nation tournament saw both Nepal and Myanmar advance to the final unbeaten. Each team secured two wins and a draw, accumulating seven points. However, Myanmar finished at the top due to a superior goal difference, while Nepal secured the second spot.

Nepal registered 1-0 victories over Kyrgyzstan and Lebanon. Myanmar, on the other hand, defeated Lebanon 3-1 and Kyrgyzstan 5-0. When the two finalists met in the league stage, the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

Statistically, Nepal has scored four goals in three matches, while Myanmar has netted ten.

Head-to-Head Record

Nepal and Myanmar have faced each other four times, with Nepal yet to register a win. Myanmar has won twice, while the other two encounters ended in draws. Their most recent clash in the league stage of this tournament ended in a 2-2 stalemate.

As the two teams prepare for the final showdown, Nepal will look to make history, while Myanmar aims to maintain its dominance.
