Naren’s 5-wicket haul helped Sudurpaschim defeat Kathmandu by 73 runs. Young bowler Naren Saud’s outstanding performance secured Sudurpaschim Royals their second consecutive win in the Nepal Premier League (NPL). Earlier, Sudurpaschim had defeated Biratnagar Kings in their first match. This was Kathmandu’s second loss in their third game; they had previously lost to Chitwan but managed to beat Karnali Yaks.

Chasing a target of 168, Kathmandu Gurkhas were bowled out for 94 runs in 15.5 overs, thanks to Naren’s 5-wicket haul. Naren became the second bowler and the first Nepali player in the ongoing NPL to take 5 wickets in a single match.

Earlier in the tournament, Pakistani bowler Sohail Tanvir of Chitwan Rhinos had also taken 5 wickets, coincidentally against Kathmandu.

Naren, who arrived in Kathmandu just yesterday after playing in the U19 Asia Cup, made his NPL debut and delivered a stellar performance, taking 5 wickets for just 19 runs in 3.5 overs.

Apart from Naren, Avinash Bohara bowled economically, taking 2 wickets for 12 runs in 3 overs, including a maiden. Brandon McMullen and Saif Zaib took one wicket each.
